... Granada's "Tapas"

Tapas are an essential part of the Grandian cuisine which forms part of Andalusia. All those who enjoy this city find themselves wrapped up and spellbound by the sheer pleasure in this way of eating.

This old custom has lasted the years and has been able to accommodate, and incorporate, the evolution of the new Granadian kitchen, one of the richest in Andalusia, thanks to the great variety of produce; from the sea, from the land and from the mountain, all essential ingredients in Spanish cuisine like olive oil, all partaken with some magnificent wines.

'El tapeo', which is what the Spanish call going from bar to bar to eat tapas, is one of the best ways of getting to know Granada. Trying out the specialties, exploring the streets, discovering the monuments and, of course, the excellent food. It's much more than having a beer, it's an art, it's knowing how to do it, it's something very close to the Granadian way of life. Not getting to know what 'tapeo' means is to miss out on the spirit of the people and their traditions.

'Tapear' is to taste the city and become Granadian for a few moments. Going up to the bar, ordering a beer or a glass of local wine and getting ready for the first surprising taste: scrambled eggs with ham, some croquets, fried augergines or some whitebait, never forgetting the local ham or some spoonfuls of special dishes and so many more things to discover in every bar in our city. Let yourself go and delight in one of our jewels. "Waiter: fill this up and that one and we're off, we've got more to see and a lot more tapas."
